What is the difference between jChartFX and jChartFX Plus?

In essence, jChartFX Plus provides more data visualization controls and functionality that can help you create additional data visualization scenarios with maps, trend controls, gauges and additional chart types. There’s a specific product comparison table that can be viewed here.

Is it really free to use jChartFX?

Yes! jChartFX can be used at no cost for personal and internal company applications. There are no limitations on the number of developers that can use jChartFX, you can use jChartFX on any number of projects/sites you need. There is no time limit, you can use jChartFX for any period of time you need. However, you are not authorized to deploy and redistribute jChartFX for commercial purposes like On Premise, SaaS and mobile applications or applications that you receive compensation for. jChartFX charts will always display a product logo that cannot be removed or replaced.

Is jChartFX offered under an open source license?

No, jChartFX or jChartFX Plus are not offered under an open source license and source code is not available at this time. Software FX, Inc. retains all ownership rights to jChartFX and jChartFX Plus.

Can I pay for just jChartFX functionality for commercial use?

No, even if you want to just license the existing jChartFX functionality you need to procure a jChartFX Plus commercial according to the pricing page available here.

How do I get rid of the jChartFX logo displayed in the chart area?

The only way to access a non-logo version of jChartFX is to procure a jChartFX Plus commercial license.

Do I need to renew my jChartFX Plus license every year?

No, jChartFX Plus licenses are perpetual in nature and will not expire. However, if you procure Support for product upgrades, updates, service packs and support tickets, it will be provided on a yearly subscription basis.

Can I transfer my jChartFX Plus license to another domain or product and organization?

No, jChartFX Plus licenses are not transferable. Our goal was to simplify and lower the cost of jChartFX Plus licenses so our customers could enjoy unlimited and royalty free distribution. For this reason you will not be able to transfer your existing jChartFX Plus license. When purchasing a jChartFX Single Domain license you will be asked to provide a domain in which the controls will function, or if you are purchasing an OEM license you will be asked to provide the product/service name and your organization name. These ownership credentials can be accessed by end users and cannot be changed.

I have been hired o develop an application for my customer using jChartFX. I will ultimately deliver the software to my customer along with the intellectual property rights for the software. What kind of license do I need?

You can either download jChartFX or jChartFX Plus depending on the functionality you really need, both of these versions are free (unless you require Support in which case, you can opt to buy a jChartFX Plus package including support). You will be able to develop the application with the logo version of jChartFX or a watermarked version of jChartFX Plus. Finally, when you deliver the application to your customer the can procure any of the jChartFX Plus deployment licenses (single domain or OEM) giving them the rights to deploy and distribute jChartFX without any logos or watermarks.
